Go Green with Bulk Bins

Use them next time you go grocery shopping!

Many grocery stores are starting to go green more and more. They sell reusable grocery bags, just in case you forget yours at home, and now they are starting to offer bulk bins.

Just like for years you could scoop out your candy, now think of how great it will be to scoop out rice, oats, peanut butter, bagels, and possibly so much more depending on your local supermarket.

What that means for you and the environment? Reusable containers! Instead of tossing or donating your glass jars or plastic containers left over from peanut butter, applesauce, or washed zip-loc bags, you can now take them to the store for your shopping benefit. Use them to help you carry home all those important goods that can’t be tossed into your big shopping bag. Then when you get home, transfer them into air tight containers and store accordingly.

A local grocery store for Canyon Park to try would be Goodwin’s Organic Food and Drinks.

Canyon Park, I’m in the mood to pick up a pie on the way home. Let me know who has the best pizza in Riverside by voting on the poll to the right.

Pomona Auto Swap Meet & Car Show

Classic 1966 Ford Mustang

My first car was a red 1966 Ford Mustang. It was my first love. I still remember the smell and how I invincible I felt every time I drove. I also remember how hard maintenance could be without the original parts and how hard it was to find those original parts. That is why The Pomona Auto Swap Meet and Car Show, held this Sunday, August 15th from 5a.m.-2p.m., is so important to so many.

The people attending are diverse, but all have one thing in common, the love for Cars. This show alone has been known to attract up to 20,000 buyers and on-lookers. Thousands of vehicles from across the country are brought to this show and divided into car shows and sale areas. There will also be over 3,000 vendors on-site selling tons of hard to find parts for your special car. Its no wonder why this show is also know as the West Coast’s Largest Antique Auto, Corvette, Porsche, Street Rod and Volkswagen Swap Meet and Car Show. People come from all over the world just to see the car parts, accessories, customs and classics available to buy.

If you are a Canyon Park car fanatic, this event has your name all over it! The Pomona Fairplex is a short ride from your front door. General admission is $8 and FREE for ages 12 and under.

Galaxy Fire

Didn’t get to travel to South Africa to see Landon Donovan’s amazing game-winning goal against Algeria? No worries, you can see him play this Sunday against the Chicago Fire at The Home Depot Center. Not Landon all by himself, but right along side his LA Galaxy teammates. You’ll be able to see World Cupper Edson Buddle as well, who, in my opinion, should’ve started every game in the World Cup at forward especially over Robbie Findley!

The Galaxy are sitting atop the Western Conference all alone directly in front of the team that beat them in the MLS Cup, Real Salt Lake. The team looks to be in good shape and hopefully make it back to the MLS Cup because I want to go Toronto for the final!

It’s going down at 4:30 p.m. on this Sunday, so don’t be late! The Galaxy will probably win because the Fire are 4-5-5 right now. Let’s root them on!
